Collecting Jersey Cards and Memorabillia Cards

Memorabilia cards are cards that have pieces of game used materials embedded in the cards. For example a game used or game worn jersey of a player. A piece of a glove, ball, jersey, bat, Game Helmet and almost anything else that is involved in a game. These collectible items add a new form of card collecting that helps the collector be more involved in the game or their favorite team or player. In recent years manufacturers have been creating very nice looking premium cards that display pieces of the game from current and former players. Memorabilia cards with pieces of the game such as game worn jersey’s, pieces of game bats, or other game equipment are attractive, rare and can be very valuable.

Some of the more valuable game used cards are of Hall of Fame players such as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron, and more recent stars like Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Ryan Howard etc… There are several factors that make these cards attractive for the collector who wants to invest in these cards. The game material is certified by the manufacturer as authentic. This takes some of the concern out of authenticating the card. Several of the grading companies such as GMA Grading, Beckett and PSA offer authentication services for these cards as well.

There is a limited number of game used equipment available for hall of fame players. These card are often numbered and production runs are kept to a minimum due to the low supply of games used items from some of the older Hall of Fame Players. This fact leads to the notion that there will come a day when production of cards for these players will cease. As cards are distributed and the number available for new collectors diminishes values are projected to increase. This makes these cards excellent potential investments.

Many collectors have been trying to purchase many of the Negro Leagues memorabilia cards due to the scarcity of the items that currently exist. The lower the productions runs the more valuable the cards could be in the future.
