Francisco Liriano Player Bio- Liriano first signed as an international free agent in 2000, playing for the San Francisco Giants but was traded to the Minnesota Twins.  In 2005, he was the leader of all minor league pitchers with 204 strikeouts and by September, he made his MLB debut, followed by winning his first major game just two weeks later.  He was added to the AL All-Star roster in 2006 and named Rookie of the Year twice.  With a 2.19 ERA, his name was tossed around for other awards to include Cy Young but due to injuries, he was sidelined until September, finally getting surgery that kept him out through 2007.  In April 2008, Liriano went back into the minors but by August, his starting performance earned him six scoreless innings and five strikeouts but it was his 2009 performance that raised concerns when his ERA hit 5.80.  Even so, by that summer, he went on to pitch seven good innings, followed by another excellent game one month later.  During the offseason, he played winter baseball for his native country of the Dominican Republic but upon returning to the Twin’s training camp, managers were guarded.  Proving them wrong, he had a great season.  After joining the All-Star team, he initially struggled but went on to career highs in both wins and strikeouts.  By 2010, Liriano had finished in the number five slot for AL with 201 strikeouts.  As a relatively consistent player with a solid reputation, the Francisco Liriano rookie card found online through eBay, as well as other merchants, remains a good addition.
