Suzuki is a unique player who at the age of 12, wrote the word “Concentration” on his glove as a reminder to stay focused on his dream of playing professionally.  Small statured and only 18 years of age, he made quite an impression after joining the majors but after being assigned Randy Johnson’s previous number 51 jersey, he sent a message that he would never put shame to that number.  Suzuki continues to amaze, hitting the first inside-the-park homerun in a MLB All-Star game, having the game winning hit for the championship game against South Korea in 2009, and making it on the Sporting News’ 2009 list of the 50 Greatest Current Players in Baseball.

Suzuki became eligible as a Baseball Hall of Fame inductee in 2009 but still plays for the Mariners.  An Ichiro Suzuki rookie card sold on auction sites or through other online merchants is already a treasure but will become more valuable upon retirement.
