Although he was not added to the starting roster after showing up to 2007’s training camp uninvited, he was named the number 33 prospect by Baseball America and number 43 by Sports Illustrated.  He played briefly in the Majors in June to replace an injured started but returned to the minors.  However, by September when the starting roster was expanded, he was pulled back into the Majors, making his first career homerun.  Impressed, the New York Times called him a cult hero who possessed speed but also defense and game enthusiasm.

He played center field during game six of the AL Championship series, hit two doubles in the World Series game, and became only one of three rookies to hit three doubles in a World Series game.  Finally, he opened the 2008 season, becoming the first team’s player to steal more than two bases in one game.  Ellsbury is also the first Navajo Native American to be a MLB player and as of January 2011, signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox.

More good things will come from this player, which is why buying a Jacoby Ellsbury rookie card from eBay or other merchants is a great investment.
