José Reyes Bio-

Reyes started in the minors like most other players, much of the time with an A-team.  However, in June of 2003, he debuted as a professional playing against the Texas Rangers just one day before turning 20.  In other games that year, he had a grand slam and came in as number eight for the 2003 NL Rookie of the Year Award.

Because the New York Mets made a deal with Kazuo Matsui for regular playing time, Reyes became a backup player.  When he did play, his performance was solid but he experience a back injury along with other player injuries hurt the 2004 season.  From 2006 to present day, he led MLB in triples for years 2005, 2006, and 2007, as well as the NL in stolen bases for 2005, 2006, and 2007.  He also won NL Player of the Week, played in his first All-Star game, came in seventh for NL MVP in 2006, and made his playoff debut that same year scoring game one’s winning run.

Then, Reyes played in the MLB Japan All-Star Series, broke the Met’s all-time record for stolen bases, and played in the World Baseball Classic.  His contract with the New York Mets expired in 2010 and due to a calf injury, as well as being diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid gland that stopped his spring training, questions have been asked whether he will continue to play for the Mets or not.  As an overachiever, buying a Jose Reyes rookie card through eBay or other online auction sites would be considered a great investment.
