Matt Cain Bio- Nicknamed “Big Sugar”, this MLB pitcher was a first round draft pick in 2002 by the San Francisco Giants out of high school.  When the 2004 season closed, Baseball America listed Cain as number 13 prospect for professional baseball based on his fastball that reaches speeds up to 95 MPH, slider, changeup, and curveball.

He debuted in 2005 at age 20 and while the game was lost, he quickly became a starting pitcher.  In September, Cain enjoyed his first MLB win while playing the Arizona Diamondbacks with that year’s performance surpassing the management’s expectations so much that he was added to the starting roster for the 2006 season prior to the start of the training camp.  Initially, Cain was inconsistence but shortly, his pitching leveled out to allow him to finish his first full shutout game in May.

He was honored as Rookie of the Year in 2007, ended the season with the NL’s lowest ERA and while 2008 saw some decline in performance, Cain had a career high 14 wins in 2009 while being named to the All-Star team and receiving the Willie Mac Award.  In 2010, he became the fifth pitcher with a minimum, unearned runs in 20 innings during a postseason game.  Still playing, buying a Matt Cain rookie card from eBay or other online auction sites should be considered a good investment option.
