Matt Kemp Bio-

Kemp almost never made it to MLB when in high school playing an All-Star basketball tournament a woman accused Kemp and four other teammates of rape.  Although suspended, no charges were ever pressed and the accusations never pursued.  With a love for baseball, Kemp was drafted in 2003 by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a sixth round pick.  He played with minor teams until 2006 when after a stellar performance on an AA team he was added to the Major roster after the right fielder was injured.

In June, he had his first MLB homerun, followed by getting homeruns in the next two games, making him the first Dodger player and the fifth player in the MLB to get four homeruns within the first 10 days as a professional.  Although he was a starter in 2007, after an injury he chose to go back to the minors but in 2008 after the center fielder was injured, he came back to the Majors.

Because of excellent performance, he received both the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award in 2009 and started the 2010 season with seven homeruns in a single month.  Commonly called “The Bison”, a Matt Kemp rookie card is commonly sold online through sites such as eBay and with expectations for future performance high, the value will likely increase.
