Michael Cuddyer Bio- In high school, Cuddyer excelled in baseball but also football and basketball, even being named 1997 Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year.  That same year, he was an amateur draft pick by the Minnesota Twins, being assigned to the minors.  However, because of his outstanding performance, he was named several times to the Top Minor League Prospects’ List by Baseball America and while in the minors, played 676 minor games at third base and 166 games at second base although he was called to the Majors occasionally when another player was injured where he was sent to the outfield.  He got his MLB break in 2005 when as a free agent he started on third base when Koskie was traded.  He struggled at third but his hitting was solid.

Although he had an injury later in the year, the Twins offered him a one-year extension contract.  He sat on the bench at the start of the 2006 season, ending up on the roster as cleanup, ultimately finishing second in RBIs.  Another injury occurred in 2008 but upon returning from the disabled list, Cuddyer hit a three run homerun, the first of that season and in 2009, he became the 53rd player in MLB to hit two homeruns in the seventh inning.  He was put in the outfield at the start of the 2010 season, spending some time on third and first bases.  Still playing, a Michael Cuddyer rookie card found through eBay or local sports memorabilia stores could increase in value if his performance continues to improve.
