Roger Clemens Bio-
He turned down offers by the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies his high school senior year, opting to pitch in college.  Again, he had a draft offer in 1981 by the New York Mets but focused on college.  In college, he excelled, becoming the first University of Texas player to have his number retired and having the Rotary Smith Award given to the best US college baseball players renamed to the Roger Clemens Award.  Finally in 1983, he signed with the Boston Red Sox.

His time in the minors was short lived, making his professional debut in 1984.  IN 1986, Clemens had 24 wins, leading the team to the World Series but also becoming a recipient of the AL MVP Award and his first of seven Cy Young awards.  Clemens also played for the Toronto Blue Jays and earned two Triple Crowns, New York Yankees where he pitched a shutout in the AL Championship Series and eight scoreless innings in the World Series, and Houston Astros, recording his 4,137 career strikeout to rank second behind Nolan Ryan.

Clemens returned to the Yankees in 2007 but retired a short time later.  Sadly, his reputation was tarnished with a bat-breaking incident during the 2000 World Series and was accused of steroid use.  He denied the charges under oath before a Congressional committee in 2008 but investigations continue.  eBay is a great place to buy a Roger Clemens rookie card although other online sites sell them as well.
