Shane Victorino Bio-
This Hawaiian born outfielder was drafted in the sixth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1999, right out of high school.  He first started in the Minors by in 2005, he debuted professionally.  At that time, the San Diego Padres picked him up under the Rule 5 Draft and after playing 36 games, he went back to Los Angeles.  Again, under the Rule 5 Draft, the Philadelphia Phillies chose Victorino but unable to stay with the team’s Majors, he was slotted to go back to the Dodgers but this time they passed, forcing the Phillies to send him to their minor league.  Because of his incredible speed, Victorino was given several nicknames such as “The Pineapple Express” and “The Flyin’ Hawaiian”.

Soon, he was on the starting roster for the Majors, and having made a strong impression, his team helped celebrate “Shane Victorino Day”, complete with Hawaiian décor, hula figurines, and a surprise of having his father flown in from Maui.  In the ninth inning, Victorino hit his first career grand slam in game two of the 2008 NL Division Series, helping his team win the 1993 World Series.  He was also named to the All-Star Game and the recipient of the Tug McGraw “Good Guy” and Lou Gehrig Memorial awards.  With future promise, buying a Shane Victorino rookie card is a nice investment piece.
