Victor Martinez Bio-
Martinez signed as a free agent in 1996 with the Indians, going initially to the Minors where he would be awarded MVP twice, as well as captured batting titles for both 2001 and 2002 seasons.  Then in September of 2002, he was called up to the Majors.  By the end of the 2003 MLB season, Martinez had been with a triple-A team and the Indians, making quite an impression.  With a controlled pitch, he drove in 63 runs that led to him being chosen to play in the All-Star Futures Game.  Just one year later, he became the team’s number one catcher based on statistics, even setting a record that earned him his first trip to the All-Star team.

During this year he was also a recipient of the Silver Slugger Award and earned the title of being the top-hitting AL catcher, an honor shared with Ivan Rodriguez.  From that time forward, Martinez went on to set more records and win more awards but then in 2009, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox, playing catcher but also first base.  Pleased with his performance, the Red Sox chose to execute the contract with Martinez but in November 2010, he and the Detroit Tigers agreed to a $50 million contract that would take the pitcher through the 2014 season.  With incredible promise for continued success, a Victor Martinez rookie card sold online through sites to include eBay is an excellent investment.
