Top 5 Brian Roberts Rookie Cards

by admin on March 9, 2011

Adding a Brian Roberts rookie card to a collection is never a bad idea.  In his freshman year of college, Roberts had a .427 batting average while playing for his father, Coach Mike Roberts.  However, after his father was fired, he played with a different university as shortstop, being named an All-American player twice.  Soon, the Baltimore Orioles saw potential, making him a first round draft pick in 1999.  He played 47 games in the minors until debuting as a professional in 2001.  Roberts returned to the minors but when second baseman Jerry Hairston, Jr. was injured, he was pulled into play major league, hitting a grand slam in his second game, a ninth inning hit winning against the Anaheim Angels.  When Hairston was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2005, Roberts became the starting second baseman.  Brian Roberts still plays for the Baltimore Orioles, having achieved many things.  He was also the batter who hit the final out in the old Yankee Stadium, set the all-time single season mark for doubles by a switch hitter, and was named Most Valuable Oriole for the 2009 season.  Although it was confirmed in 2006 that Roberts had used steroids on one occasion, his rookie card is still in demand.  The 2001 Fleer Authority rookie card, graded BGS 9 sells for a mere $15 while the 2001 Leaf Limited rookie card, BGS 9.5 goes for about $50.  These cards are easily obtained through eBay and other online auction sites.  Some of the best Brian Roberts baseball cards are listed below.  Brian Roberts rookie card values have increased since becoming the Orioles second baseman.  His all-star play makes him one of the best second baseman in today's game.
