Buchholz played for McNeese State University but after admitting to stealing 29 laptops in 2004, he was dismissed, eventually playing for Angelina College and setting a number of team records. He was drafted as a first round pick in 2005 by the Boston Red Sox, playing in the minors until 2007 when his pitching skills were debuted at Fenway Park for a game win of 8-4.  However, he went back to the minors, only to play a second professional game in 2007, pitching a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles that made him the third pro pitcher since 1900 to do so in a first or second start with the majors.  Although he experienced a hamstring injury early in 2010, he still pitches a 96 MPH fastball with the Boston Red Sox.  Some accomplishments include being named 2006 Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year and American League Pitcher of the Month in 2010, among others.
