Keith Hernandez Bio-

During his MLB career, Hernandez played with several teams, starting with the St. Louis Cardinals.

After being drafted in 1972 and spending time in the minors, he made his professional debut in August of 1974 while playing in Candlestick Park.  For the rest of the season, he played for both Tulsa and the Cardinals but in 1976, his skill as a fielder was recognized, leading to a Gold Glove Award, followed by being a top player in the National League and winning the 1982 World Series.

Then in 1983, he was traded to the New York Mets, at which time the team was a low NL performer.  After a change in management, the Mets had a great year in 1984, to include Hernandez being second as the league’s MVP.  Being an aggressive player who could play further off first base, he proved his value to the team.  Although Hernandez set records, cocaine use became a serious issue for some time.

However, the Mets won the 1986 World Series and in 1988, Hernandez won his 11th Gold Glove Award.  He then left the Mets, going to the Cleveland Indians in 1990 but retired at the close of the season.  As a solid NL player, even with some bumps in his career, Keith Hernandez baseball cards sold through eBay make a nice addition.
