Rollie Fingers Bio- Although born Roland Glen, this former MLB player was nicknamed “Rollie”, had an easily recognizable mustached, and made his name in the game for outstanding pitching.  Following in his father’s footsteps, a former minor leaguer, Fingers was offered to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers with a bonus but with no room for pitchers in the Majors or Minors, he instead signed for the Kansas City Athletics in 1953.  Initially, he was being considered for both outfielder and pitcher while in the minors but in 1970, he played 19 games in the big league, only to be added to the KC roster as a fulltime pitcher the following year.

He then became a powerful closer who over the years accomplished a number of feats.  However, by 2006, Fingers had become the first pitcher in the history of MLB to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame without ever starting a game in his professional career.  Fingers also played for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, and Milwaukee Brewers and when inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, was just one of a few MLB players whose number was retired by more than one franchise, which included both the Athletics and Brewers.  Fingers always wore a waxed handlebar mustache, which he still has today.  The best place to find a variety of Rollie Fingers baseball cards is through eBay or other similar sites.
