Some people believe the reason was that he wanted the American Tobacco Company to pay him more money for using his name and image on the card while others believe it had to do with stopping children from buying a pack of cigarettes just to get his card.  No matter the real reason, the number of T206 Honus Wagner baseball cards produced is said to be somewhere between 60 and 200.  Back in 1933, this specific card had a value of $50, which at that time, made it the most expensive baseball card ever made anywhere in the world.

While reprints of the T206 Honus Wagner baseball cards are commonly sold on eBay for $5 to $10, an authentic card, if even found, sells for as much as $250,000 in poor condition and close to $3 million in mint condition.
