Tom Seaver Bio-
Seaver was given two nicknames during his professional career, “The Franchise” and “Tom Terrific.” He was first drafted by the New York Mets in 1967 as a pitcher but from that time to 1986, he would play with four different teams to include the Mets, Cincinnati Reds, back to the Mets, and finally, the Chicago White Sox.
Although he had quite an impressive pitching career with all teams, he is best remembered for his time with the NY Mets. Over his full 20-year career, he accumulated 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, and had an ERA of 2.86. Seaver was able to accomplish some great feats during his time as an MLB pitcher, some that include being named the 1967 NL Rookie of the Year, being a three-time recipient of the Cy Young Award, assisting the Mets with the 1969 World Series victory, and being honored with the Sportsman of the Year Award given by Sports Illustrated, and the Top Professional Athlete of the Year Award by Hickok Belt.
However, his greatest achievement came in 1992 when he was a National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee although having a plaque in his honor placed in Coutsperstown and his number 41 retired in 2010 was not half bad.
